Well on the way from Seattle to Spokane as I was going up Snoqualmie Pass...
http://www.gonorthwest.com/Washington/cascades/Snoqualmie-Pass/snoqualmie_pass.htm
...the temps started to climb.. I hoped to pull in at the summit ski area but
when the temps hit about 3/4 I started losing power so I pulled over.. steam
comen out the hood.. .. get out an pop the hood and see coolant all
over the lower skid pan under the radiator.. both hoses looked fine so we get
a tow truck ride home ($140.00) as I can seee the problem. Before sending it
and my son home with the tow truck we load everything into the S-70 and continue
on to spokane/Gonzaga U. Get her moved into the dorm (102 degrees in Spokane)..
fall into bed at the doubletree and then head back to Seattle on Sunday (100 deg
all the way back to the mountains). Got home and went out to the brick.. cranked it and it started right up.. good sign.. shut it down right away and had a beer
or two.. went to bed. Got up this morning and poured some water into it.. quick as
it goes in it goes out at the bottom of the radiator... better than running out of the engine somewhere! So to the questions...
* Will the 240 sense high coolent temps/ lost of coolent pressure and go into
a limp mode or shut itself down?
I started it to pull into the driveway this morning and it runs fine. which is
a good sign I hope.
** What should I look at aside from the busted radiator.
It didnt over heat for a long period of time and I suspect the radiator had
let go on me and I didnt realize it as I was going up the pass.
Everything appears intact except for the radiator.. which i will pull this morning... any thoughts as to what to look at after overheat are welcome...
As I said.. I didnt drive it long at all.. no other "oh shit lights" came on.
car starts fine and drives fine (short distance into the driveway)
Anyone want to buy a 240 wagen? :-)
