hi,
i have a 1991 240 with what i believe to be a warm engine start up problem.
here is what happens: if i try to start it up about 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours after driving it, the engine starts and then dies about 2 or 3 times and then will start, hesitate and run fine. the check engine light may or may not come after the start up and remain on for a few seconds. i checked the code and it was 2-3-2 (engine compensating for rich or lean fuel mixture at idle).
it does not happen: when the car has been sitting for more than about 5 hours. it starts up fine then and will run smoothly and works quite well really.
i know it is not: the fuel pump (either one), fuel filter, the check valve, the fuel pump relay switch, spark plug wires, distributor cap (as mechanics and other auto nerds like to look at my car and replace parts at will and it has not affected the problem).
if anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it. thanks! christine
