I've been having intermittent no-start problems. This is accompanied by no movement on the aftermarket tach I installed (no ignition signal.)
I read here about the fusebox corrosion, so I removed all the fuses and cleaned up the spring tabs in the fusebox and the fuses with a Dremel tool. Still had the problem.
At first, a fresh charge on the battery or being jumped by another vehicle would start it every time. As time went on, these methods started to fail.
I bought a new battery. No change. Problem getting worse.
I replaced the pickup coil, thinking that was the problem with the ignition signal. Same thing.
I took the ignition module to a Volvo shop, and they said they had never seen one go bad, and had no way to test it in any case.
It wouldn't start this morning. At work I was thinking about it, and again zeroed in on the fusebox, as a while back spinning the fuses got it started.
So after work I tried starting it while spinning fuses, and nothing. Then I grabbed the fuse tabs and wiggled the whole box left-to-right a little, and PRESTO! It started. So now I think the connection problem may not be with the fuses themselves, but with the wiring where it attaches to the fusebox from behind.
Anyone have similar problems, and if so, how did you alleviate them? Thanks!
