Okay, first of all, how stupid is it to put a K-cam in an automatic? An automatic Brick is all I've got. I know that a better camshaft will be the quickest and most satisfying way to more power, so I've got to find some way to meld performance camshafts with an auto tranny.
That out of the way, does anyone have any useful K-cam/performance camshaft Volvo links bookmarked? I'm particularly looking for a place to buy them. I seem to recall hearing a while back that a person over at TurboBricks was selling refurbished K-cams, or something like that, but I can't find anything doing a Brickboard and Google search. Does anyone know who I mean?
Lastly, should I be considering a K-cam, or should I go with a VX(3) camshaft? I know ipd sells the kits and everything that include all parts, but at a hefty markup, too. I don't see why I shouldn't go with an original Volvo item and make sure I get all the right parts myself, but are there benefits with the VX cam that the K doesn't have?
Any caveats? I'm expecting a rough or uneasy idle. Just as long as my car doesn't stall while stopped at a stoplight, I'll be willing to deal with the idle.
