Stuck on Hwy No Spark 200 1983

Hey All

I was crusing just fine, no sputter or other warning and the Wag instantly died. No loud noises etc.

I jumpered the fuel pump fuses as a first guess, #5 and #7 from the Hazards fuse. I can't confirm the pumps were running because the traffic noise was too loud. However the multi meter showed 11.75 volts on #7 when cranking.

I checked all fuses including the 25A next to the battery. The battery shows full charge and when cranking drops to 11.5 +/-.

No spark at the #1 plug or the coil wire, using pliers and watching for spark (didn't have my timing light). When cranking both side of the coil show battery voltage. The cap and rotor button appear fine. How finiky is the Hall sensor? The electrical connections seem fine. The flat metal strip (ground?) running from the Hall sensor to the body of the dist. seems suspect. I'm not convinced the contact is good. Can I probe the Hall sensor connector for insight?

Any other ideas places to look? This is the first time its hasn't started that I can't find the solution.

Thanks for any help you can lend, I'm off to search the archives.
