Pretty big valve shim gaps, how bad? 200

Just measured the shims on my 91 245SE, (V15 cam) and saw some pretty large gaps. The measurements are as follows. The first one listed starts at the front of the engine with the #1 valve closest to the timing gear.

#1 0.018", .457mm
#2 0.020", .508mm
#3 0.018", .457mm
#4 0.021", .533mm
#5 0.018", .457mm
#6 0.019", .483mm
#7 0.018", .457mm
#8 0.019", .483mm

Checking the Volvo green manual.. its says the hot value should be about .014-.018" for the spec value, and to adjust when they are .016-.018".

It looks like all the exhaust valves stayed identical throughout, but the intake valves are really out of spec. Why is this? The only thing I can think of is the higher temps and higher duration at high RPM's cleaned off carbon in the valve seat area, and made a tighter fit for the intake valves?
