Brake Pedal Goes to Floor After I Stop! 200

My 85 240 has a decent brake pedal when first applied. But as you're nearing a complete stop, the pedal "leaks" all the way to the floorbaord. This can be scary at the least. A buddy of mine supposedly bled all the air out of the system, but the pedal still has a spongy feel to it, and does its floorboard trick. Any suggestions as to what's causing my problems?
