Hello All:
1967 122S Wagon. I am installing rear seat belts. I bought the belts from VLVWorld. With help from all of you, I figured out where the side bolt holes are. The bolts that arrived with the belts were not a great help, however.
The bolt holes begin with an unthreaded section that is 11/16" deep, 7/16" in diameter. At the 11/16" depth the threading begins, and a local auto parts guy says the bolts are 11mm diameter for the threaded portion. I am not sure how deep the threading goes but it seems to go quite deep. I believe the bolt has to have at least a 1" unthreaded length followed by at least a 9/16" threaded length in order to be effective. Just to be super-clear here, we have a 1/4" bolt head followed by a 1" unthreaded section followed by a 9/16" threaded section which results in a bolt that is 1-13/16" in total length. Oh yeah, and I need two of them.
The bolts I received from VLVWorld may well have the correct thread pitch but the unthreaded portion is too wide in diameter and even so the bolt is not long enough. NAPA? No luck. Volvo dealer in Manhattan? Useless. Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. in Hawthorne, NY? Wonderful people, but no bolts with 11mm diameters.
What is the deal? Are these bolts that hard to come by or is the 11mm incorrect? I have to get these belts in by Thursday, September 2nd or I cannot get my child to school.
Thanks for the help. If you need a diagram, I will try to post one.
Cheers,
Jeff Pucillo
