Proper Tire Rotation Pattern for nondirectional radials. 200 1982

Hi Guys,

I am running Bridgestone Turanzas (205x60x15) on 700 series steel rims that are due for rotation -- on my 82 242. My workshop manual suggests simply moving the tires from front to back while keeping them on the same side of the car---- which has never proven optimal ---- principally because the drive wheel continues to wear faster than the other 3.

Is there a better way of rotating tires with the early 240's? The fellow at the Tire Rack has suggested a more "traditional front-to-back with diagonal crossover". Someone else has suggested keeping the tires on the same "axles" but switching them from one side to another.

I'd welcome comments and recommendations from anyone who has actually kept track of tire wear patterns and ride quality --- with their 240's. Thanks.

Regards, Dave
