dash lights wont shut off after starting. 700 1990

hey brickaholics,

any ideas as to why my dashboard lights ("check engine, parking brake, etc") wont turn off after the car starts on my 740t... I'm not having any other electrical problems. Also, when I take the parking brake off, all of the light seem to dim for a second.
