Dear Fellow Brickboarders,
May this find you well. 1993 940 (less than 100K miles) presents following symptoms:
(a) Trans is slipping in all gears
(b) Trans fluid is "burned".
Would a flush restore proper function or is replacement necessary?
If a flush wouldn't restore proper function in the long term (so a replacement would be needed), would a flush make the car driveable for, say, 1,000 miles?
I know it is impossible to predict how many miles a damaged transmission will last. I use 1,000 miles as an example, because I'd like to have views as to whether a flush would give only short-range capability (say, 50-500 miles), or whether a flush would allow medium-range usage (up to 1,000 miles).
Given these transmissions' durability, what are the likely causes of failure at relatively low miles?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yours faithfully,
spook
