My original post is here:
http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=838526
My readings were/are:
15mph Limit Before After
HC ppm - 125 49 40
CO% - 1.26 .07 .04
**NO ppm 972 1012 456
25mph
HC ppm - 121 46 60
CO% - 1.54 .07 .10
**NO ppm 885 1053 507
It's interesting that on the second test at 15 mph my HC & CO went down, but at 25 they both went up.
Anyway - to the "important" stuff - here what I did. Nothing fancy.
The car had been sitting for about 8 months. Durring that time I would start it up and let idle for half an hour about once every two or three weeks, but no driving. On the first test, the tank was about 50% old gasoline and 50% Sunco premium, plus octane booster called "The Outlaw." Why I would put something called "The Outlaw" in my tank before going to emissions, I don't know.
So - after failing, I ran that tank as close to dry as I could, and added 1/2 tank Exxon mid-grade. When that ran out, I put in some Exon Premium and went to get emissions checked. Before pulling in the station, I went around the corner and pulled the vacuum hose to the ECU or whatever that is, covered the nipple with electric tape, and put the hose back over it, to help seal the tape.
It passed - thats all I did. I don't know if the significant change was 1)- car had been sitting & needed to run more before test, 2)- old gas in the tank was bad, 3)- "The Outlaw" is bad, or 4)- covering the nipple did the trick.
Regardless, I can finally get my car registered! Thanks for everyone's input to my previos post, and I hope this info can help someone in the future...
