I just bought my first volvo, its a '91 740. The problem is that it seems to shift hard between 1st and 2nd; then again between 2nd and 3rd. By shifting hard I mean that the trans doesnt slip or anything it just throws you back in your seat a little every time it shifts. Unless you get on it or let off the gas a little it will rev up to about 4500 rpms before it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. The car has 145k miles and the trans fluid is looking a little dark. I just found this site and now that I read how-to, I am planning on changing the trans fluid. Does this sound like a Kickdown Cable problem or something more costly? Also could someone better explain where the kickdown cable is located under the hood. I read in the FAQ how to adjust it but didnt really catch where it attaches under the hood (maybe I should read it again.) Well thanks in advance for any help, I am glad I found this site I am sure it is going to be a great source for information.
