I've been trying to get rid of engine ping for quite some time and yesterday attempted to retard the timing a bit in hopes it would help the problem. When I got everything ready to go, I discovered my distributor was stuck fast! No amount of hand rotation, tool rotation, even banging on a screwdriver against the rear slider to break it loose would do anything. How to I get this thing to budge in order to adjust my timing in the first place? Also, right now at 800 rpm, timing shows up at 10 degrees. On my 1980 B21F, I am correct in thinking it should be lower anyway right? What have fellow bricksters found to be the best timing setting on this engine? Thanks!
