Muffler hangers--how to stretch S90-V90

Love this forum--you know those rubber muffler hanger thingies, what's the best way to attach those. this is the rear muffler on my "new" 97 960. I am going through it and getting things up to snuff before the snow flies and noticed one was broken on the rear muffler, After paying $13.82 (thanks to the VCoa discout) for a volvo quality "Shackle", and crawling under there, it brought back memories of trying to stretch those things on before, and I thought there must be an easier way. so guys, what's the trick??
