same front amplifier for 780 and 740 for 88-92? 700 1989

I need to change the front amplifier on my 89' 780. It's ridiculously expensive($544.37) from Volvo dealer. I'm looking into salvage cars but 780 is very hard to find. Some one told me 740 and 780 have the same front amplifier, is that true?

Also, how to get access to the amplifier? I know it's under the steering wheel. I removed the plastic panel but didn't know how to remove the metal panel under it.
