Focusing on the final style for the 240 front ends, what variations were there on the Volvo 240 grille in Europe?
Here in the States and as far as I know, there were only two types--the chrome grille (my car and nearly all others) and the black grille, used in 1992 and maybe 1993. The chrome grille is by far the most common one in the 1986-1993 cars.
However, I know that Europe got the "new" front end in 1981. Is this front end identical to U.S. cars, save for the slightly different headlights and turn signal assemblies? (I know that the U.S. and European parts will not combine, but together the lights and signals are interchangeable, AFAIK.)
In other words, do the 1981-1985 (and then to 1993) European 240 grilles fit effortlessly into the 1986-1993?
What did the 1981-1985 turbo Euro grilles look like? Were they eggcrate grilles found in 740s and 940s (perhaps like the 240 flathood ones, as well), or were they black slotted, like the taller U.S. turbo grilles?
Were there any other variations in grilles besides what I've named/proposed here?
Here are two variations I've come across:
1983 Euro Turbo (from this page)
1983 Euro Turbo (from this page (why are the headlight styles different between these two Euro Volvos?)
