Ok...I read the messages all the time about "check those electrical connections".

I purchased a wrecked 1988 240 sedan about 2 months ago. As I was driving the thing home, I heard this electrical short and pooof....it no longer ran.

I knew the coil was shot (I bench tested that one) I thought since the coil was gone, the e.c.u., the i.c.u. and the hall sensor must have been blown as well.

I have ordered parts to fix the front end from many people on this board (thank you all for the decent prices) and a few more from E-Bay.

I took the weekend to get the front end finally fixed and the headlight/turn signal wiring hooked back up and corrected. I was getting ready to replace the computers and the distributor but before I did, had to unhook the battery to fix one last ground wire (for the lights). After I hooked the battery back up I thought, "what are the chances?" I just gave it a turn at the ignition and the beast fired right up. It turned out the problem (with the exception of the coil) was a disconnected ground wire for one of the turn signals.

On the bright side, I have a garage full of extra parts (that I got fairly cheap, just in case). On the down side....Check Those Electrical Connections!!

Next....Onto the water pump and timing belt.

BTW, it only has 123,000 miles and sounds good except for the timing belt and water pump. It is a project in progress.
