Well, my cousin told me that the trans on his 84 245 DL was dead. I went over today to check it out. I was able to drive the car, but only barely. I put it in reverse and I had to punch it to get it to back up a small incline...but it did move. Then I put it in drive and had top punch it again to get it going forward. So I thought, if the trans was shot, it wouldn't even move. Checked the transmission fluid and it looks like it is filled. Engine is running strong with no problems, full of oil. So, could it be the drive converter? What's your diagnosis and hw much will it cost to fix? My cousin also mentioned that it did get progressively worse over the past few weeks and then one day it hit rock bottom.
Also, this may or may not be related but there was a large oily spot under the car when I moved it. Checked the oil and it was full and I didn't see anything that looked like a leak. However, I don't know how long the car has been sitting in it's current position. My cousin did go to Europe for 3 weeks so I am guessing it hasn't moved in about a month.
Thanks,
Eamon
