oil drip from transmission 'vent?' 960 900 1995

Found a big spot of oil on the drive way and jacked up the car to see what's going on...
Looking at the transmision I spy a drip coming out of a small plastic cover.
Once removed I'm now looking at a gear. I'm supposing this is the transmission (or is it the fly wheel?.... It might be the fly wheel.
Looks like I'm loosing a lot of oil but the dip stick really doesn't seem to go down much, if at all.
I'm wondering is this transmission fluid instead? It doesn't really seem red in color but it could look like oil from being dirty.
If indeed, I'm looking at the fly wheel is the leak coming from the rear shaft seal?
What's your guess?
thx
