Went to get NJ emission test. Failed Nox - 3700, spec is 900.
New after market cat from fcp groton last year.
However, while waiting for emissions, car ran for about 20 minutes down the Parway to center. Ran fine. Car idled for about 20 minutes waiting for the MVC idiots to fix their emissions equipment. Failed nox, but HC, CO was very good.
After driving away, when I went to pass someone with acceletor to floor, engine bogged. Slight to moderate acceleration OK. Heavy acceleration (pedal to floor), engine would bog, and eventually die if held their long enough. Went to home depot, came back home. No problems at all with hard acceleration.
Checked for engine codes. None.
Car has pretty much sat in the driveway for the past 3 months due to no AC. So, I'm thinking, maybe I just need to run a few tanks of gas through it, replace the air filter, and try again? Could a sensor overheated because of prolonged idling and then cooled down later on? If it is O2 sensor, is there a test for it?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tom
