I bought a 1984 Volvo 240 Turbo, station wagon, it is a manual GASOLINE car and has intercooler written on the rear door, the engine is a 2.1FT as far as I know.
Firstly what is the name of this model? 245 or 244, GL or GLT, I think it is a 244 GLT but I am not sure?
Secondly I have been told that I need the Garrett turbo replaced, because it is smoking badly. So, I bought a turbo from volvoandsabb.com auto parts in CA, and the mechanic put it on the car only to discover that there was an extra pipe which he could not connect because there was no hole.
The picture in the following link will show a turbo which has got a hole which I needed. The hole is in the bottom left of the picture and has a brown fitting attached.
U may need to paste this link to the address bar!

I need to know what type of turbo specifically I should order? I know I need a Garrett, however, do I need an Oil + Water cooled turbo - because it says INTERCOOLER?
I asked the parts supplier to send me an Oil and Water cooled Turbo anyway but I think he sent me an Oil cooled only Turbo - does this sound correct?
Any other information on the type of turbo I need would be appreciated, I ideally would like to hunt one down for cheap on eBay, I am already down $400 on labour costs which did not even fix the problem.
Tks for reading!
