How do I remove the Trunk lock/open button

I have a 1988 244 that I'm going to have repainted. I'm working on removing stuff from the car to get a better paint job. On the outside of the trunk there is a chrome button that opens and locks the trunk. I want to remove this for painting, but I'm not sure how. I have noted a bolt or two under it, but is that all. I'm still tramatised from trying to help my dad put the tailgate handle back on his 1969 ford bronco.
Thanks and happy bricking.
