Hey dudes,
1983 244 Turbo (Not intercooled yet), 213k miles, CIS Kjet.
Whether I push in the clutch to come to a stop, or rev the engine in neutral, the engine will stumble really bad when comign back to idle. The rpms drop very low, so low that sometimes the oil pressure light will come on, as the gear driven oil pump doesn't spin fast enough due to lack of engine rpms.
Things I have checked:
Throttle Body and INtake are both clean
Idle Motor is clean, and valve rotates freely
Base idle is within specs at 900 rpm
New throttle body and intake gasket
Another symptom that may be related:
When the car is started and is is cool outside, I'd say about 60 or below fahrenheit (an estimate) the idle will 'hunt' between 1200 and 500 (judging from the in car tach). It will rev up and down between this rpm range about 8 times, then stop. I know it does this when the engine is cold, not positive when it is warmed up and then started.
I really need the help because ocassionally, about 5 times, the car has died while trying to return to idle, and thats not cool. Although now I do know how to popstart a car, really easy actually. Thanks for the help everyone!!
