Hi,
Once more I turn to this all-knowing board for help.
I recently noticed a light whining sound when turning (it happens occassionally). When I checked the fluid level of the p/s pump it appeared to be empty (at least I could see any fluid, there must be some still in it at the bottom).
So tomorrow I'm off to buy some fluid.
BUT of course I want this fixed. So I began inspecting the steering system.
I couldn't find any leak except for the driver's side boot which appeared greasy (but no apparent leak). So I assume that it's filled up with oil.
Now my question: What is probably the cause and what can be done (I'm thinking rack seals??)? And will it cost me much? Since I don't have the time nor skills to tackle this job I'll have my dealer handle it (prices are not fully transferable to my european situation. I've noticed mechanic's and dealer prices are much lower here, but a costly repair will remain costly)
TIA
