960 PNP (neutral safety) switch removal problem 900 1995

I'm in the process of removing the PNP switch on our '95 960, but I can't get the fitting for the trans cooler line loose. I've tried all manner of penetrants, choice words, incantations, etc to no avail. I even slightly bent my 17mm flare wrench. Any suggestions? If I cut the trans cooler line for clearance can it be joined it back together reliably?
