96 Volvo 960 900

Hello All:

I've been reading this forum for two weeks now and I am totally amazed at the knowledge available at this forum. I purchased my 1996 Volvo 960 almost two weeks ago and just love the way the vehicle drives/handles. I drove it over a thousand miles after the purchase and everything worked perfectly. In the past week, the heater seats stopped working but the lights on the switches still function. I'll follow the procedures recommended in the FAQ and try to resolve this. I also have the check engine light coming on along with the low coolant level initicator on the dash. I've ordered a new thermostat and coolant level sensor and plan on replacing these as well this week.

Now for the questions:

1. The coolant level remains constant and I don't have an overheating issue - Is there anything else I should replace?

2. I purchased two keyless remote on ebay - there's seem to be two different models / part numbers which both advertised as working for the 96 Volvo 850/960 models. I purchased both part numbers but have been unsuccessful in prgramming these to my Volvo. I purchased a lame set of progromming instructions on ebay as well which basicall outlined turning the key to position I or II five times and on the fifth time, leave it on and hit one of the keys on your remote. Needless to say, this did not accomplish the reprogramming. Any suggestions would be very valued and welcomed.
