Yellow Peril Tuning - Responds to adjustment now but.... 140-160 1973

I took the 'puter out of the Yellow Peril and found it pretty grungy with some
corrosion around the edges. The connector (plug?) seemed good on both sides.
It is an 034 model and I had another one that looked better so I put it in.
Since I had everything possible adjusted as lean as possible it refused to start
and still refused to start until I put on the MAPsensor that had the removable
end plug. I finally got it to idle, first at 400 rpm (not reliably) and then
up to 750, and played with the mixture some. Although the MAPsensor was set fairly rich (unscrewed about 3/4 of its travel), it seemed fairly lean
according to the colortune (blue flame) on both #1 and #2, so both pairs are
apparently triggering OK. Nonetheless the exhaust was still kinda smelly.
I plan to continue tuning but would still welcome more suggestions. One
problem it has is that from idle, when you step on the gas, it stumbles at
first. The contacts are good and clean in the throttle position switch, and
adjusted IAW the manual. It seems like the stumbling happens quicker than the
richer mix from the throttle switch can respond. Any ideas on this, anybody?

Many thanks for all your help on this.
