244 1981, Carb
On 2 ocassions, my cousin drove my 244 and car stalled in the middle of the road. Both ocassions took place within 4 days.
The first time, mechanic came and changed the mechanical pump that sits beside the distributor. Car did not start upon pump replacement. We figure perhaps it could be lack of fuel so we bought 5 litre and put in although fuel gauge was at the quarter tank line. Car still could not start and had to be towed to workshop. Nothing was done in the workshop because after sitting there for a couple of hours the car started right up.
This morning the car acted up again and stalled in the middle of a heavy traffic. I went there and checked sparked - okay. I removed the fuel line from the mechanical pump and noticed no fuel coming out. I checked the fuel gauge, and the needle was still above the red line towards the quarter mark. Since this car runs on mechancal pump I learned there was no relay to look so I and cousin went and put in some 10 litre. The car started.
Obviously the fuel gauge was faulty. Question: How to recticy? Is it the cable, wires, electronics or simply the in-tank float?
Please help as I do not want to spend anymore on unnecessary part.
Thanks
