Loose injectors? 200 1980

Anybody ever run into this one?

This weekend I decided to be cheap and repaired the wiring harness. Yes, I know that $174 US to Dave for a used harness would be well spent but In the interest of cutting losses, I wanted to confirm that with continuity and separation restored the car would be worth the cost. The labor is not a big deal as long as it isn't raining and I have a supply of butt splices and scrap Taurus harnesses.

After I had the old gasket material scraped off and ready to reinstall the intake manifold, I noticed that the injectors wiggle in their mounts. Do the o-rings deteriorate to the point where this happens or is it somehow normal? I would expect the o-rings to just harden in place and be very rigid. I see that IPD lists the injector holders as plastic so perhaps they break down.

Anyway, the electrical gremlins seem to be in hiding, I haven't had a chance to take a shakedown run yet but it has a noticable hesitation coming off idle. Thoughts?
