What about the Bypass valve you ask? Let me entertain you with a tale of the QUEST FOR BOOST. I have scoured the lines and all the connections that are about or around the turbo, and have looked at all the suggested pipes and such that were relayed to me from the helpful patrons of this great site, much thanks to you all. After a detailed inspection all looks and feels secure and intact. But I hear the air blast coming from the BYPASS VALVE on the clean air side of the turbo, and I know that it is blowing a substantial ammount of air that at one point was continuing on to the intercooler like it was supposed to. What controls the valve and what can one do to check for proper operation? I dont want to jump to any conclusions and purchase a replacement, and I think that it is recieving a false signal to dump pressure. I have heard that the purpose of the valve is to unload the compressor to allow for greater turbine speed and to close once that pressure was attained, thus providing more boost under great acceleration demands. Correct me please if needed, but am I so far off? Either way the valve opens and dumps, like I think that it is supposed to, but never closes. Then all boost that is developed is used to create a heartburn creating hiss that reminds me how much I miss the back of my seat pushing up against me. So, woe is me and my poor performing Swede. Once again, great thanks to those brave souls that have conquered this boost devouring parasite, and are willing to share the spoils of remedy. Or anyone that has a little insight to send my way! Happy (and safe) driving!
