Knock sensor and engine coolant temperature sensor 700 1990

The fault codes on my 1990 740 tell me the knock sensor and the engine coolant temperature sensor are bad. Is there a common wiring situation associated with these two sensors(which are very close in physical proximity)that would indicate some other problem? Thanks, Roger
