Hello all, this is my first post in this forum. I have a 1991 940 SE, 156K. Has been running fine until this morning. About half way to work I noticed steam coming from under the hood. I stopped immediately, opened the hood, and found my water valve or heater valve broken in two. The plastic nipple on the heater core side had broken off clean from the valve body. To shorten the story some, two hours later, I'm back at the car with a new water or heater valve, and a new hose to go between the valve and lower heater core inlet. The guy at the parts store assured me that this is the correct valve, although it does look different. He and I had no idea which way to hook it up, so I took a stab in the dark. Put the new parts in, filled withed antifreeze, and drove it home. So far so good, the temp gauge quickly rose to dead center, as it always has. However, I noticed it was a little cool in the car, so I cranked up the heat... HMMMM..... no heat!
Is it possible to hook up the valve backwards? Or, does it matter?
Thank to all.
