I just picked up a 1985 740 turbodiesel sedan with a manual transmission, 249k miles, and major wiring deterioration. Mechanically it's in good shape and the glow plugs are currently working. It has a block heater I can use in the morning, but what should I expect when it's parked outside in cold weather while I'm at work, or when I let it sit for several days - is there a temperature below which it's just not going to start? It gets real cold here (Michigan), are there other tricks for Diesel winter starting (fuel additives, etc)? Looking forward to finally getting 30+ MPG with a Volvo....
