Can anyone tell me whether my O2 sensor as pictured here is dead 900 1990

Can anyone tell me whether my O2 sensor as pictured here is dead just by looking at it? My car barely starts lately after being driven with a plugged catalytic (Its a 1991 Volvo 940 Turbo) I know there are diagnostic test you can do with a DVM and running the engine and checking for the threshold voltage and fluctuations, but I think this one is dead just b looking at it visually..Can someone with more experience tell me?
