740T & 760T voltage problems 700

Hello All,

Well both my Volvo's are having a bit of a voltage drop under load. I have tested the battery and alternator, all reads fine on both. In no particuliar order...if I turn one item on at a time eventualy voltage drops. On the 86'740Turbo Wagon this drop will go back up( around 14 volts) upon reving engine. On the 87' 760Turbo Sedan it will not. It will only increase in volts if I turn an item(s) off in the car. I pulled the voltage regulator out of the 760 and it is pretty worn. Will this perhaps solve part of the problem?

I went through this awhile ago with my 740. It ended up being a loose battery cable and I also needed a new voltage regulator. Now the problem has returned, though not as severe as before nor as bad as the 760 is at present.

Any ideas would be most appreciative! I will be giving the situation more of my attention this weekend. My mom drives the 760 and she is a bit frightfull of the situation since she is not formiliar with bricks. I have had my share of electricial woe's in the past 13 years with my 740 so it doesn't bother me to much if I can't have my fan on full and my heated seats going at the same time.

Best Regards,

Anastasia
