Thanks to all that contributed to the original plea for help.
I changed the needles to KD's and it was like a power boost and no miss at any speed.
I still want to change the distributor to a vacuum advance but the rebuilder wants numbers so does anyone have numbers for this type to give him? Then I can get him to swap out the vacuum retard distributor he sent me. The numbers provided by gert44 were not on the rebuilders list for some reason. Gert, are you outside the US? I have seen other distributors not used on imports to the US that confuse the hell out of rebuilders.
I am looking forward to the day when I can close the hood and keep it that way other than for routine maint. Getting close.
