Guys
Since the weather has started getting colder now, this morning I realized after turning down the radio that the steering rack was making a whining noise whenever turning the steering even slightly to the right or left side. This whinning noise is the same like when you turn the steering all the way to the right or to the left with the difference that it appears even if you hold the steering in any position rather than dead center.
I checked the fluid levels and it seems to be ok. Other than that noise the steering seems to be ok with no stress in turning either way.
Has anybody experienced any similar issues with their steering? My 240 has 175k miles. Do I need to replace the fluid as a precaution? Maybe do I need to oil the steering rack? I replaced the boots and regreased the joints about 30k miles or 3 years ago.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Michael
