Wagon Tailgate Wiring - Where are wires hiding? 200 1988

Hi All -

Just picked up a 1988 245 that has been sitting 'a while' and am fixing it up as a project with my 17 yr old son. Coming from an 850 background I am at least to some of the Volve ways...

As you can guess there are many issues, but she starts and moves OK, (dispite flame trap issues thet I'll search the archives for and post if I can't find answers).

My current problem is not only rear wiper not working, but also license plate lights, defroster and 3rd stop light. I can't find any wires connecting hatch to car. I can see what look like the ends of broken/cut wires in hinges, but what are they and how to get to? Don't see matching wires in/on tailgate.

I am hoping you folks can help - where is the wiring harness located and how do you get to it?

Anyone do you happen to have a wiring diagram of the tailgate?

Thanks!

Ken
