Did a bunch of diagnositc stuff but still baffled about my '88 240 with automatic transmission.
Symptoms:
1. Starts (sometime hard)
2. Idles ok.
3. No power -- doesn't die -- just takes a long while to accelerate.
4. Doesn't miss.
5. Can get nice strong response (good acceleration) at high rpms (auto transmission -- kept it in first gear then shifted up to second). No missing, no sputtering. Not fuel starved or bad spark -- very strong running at high rpm indicating good spark and good fuel supply
6. Fuel pressure at an even 44 pounds (use IPD adapter on fuel rail with gague).
7. Seems to have good vacuum.
Testing today:
1. Cleaned Idle Control Valve (in pretty good shape - not very dirty)
2. Swapped ECU ( . . . 544) with another of my Volvo's (checks out ok)
3. Swapped AMM (. . . 007) with another of my Volvo's (chekcs out ok)
Any ideas about next steps?
Thanks for any ideas.
Mike
