78 245 Grinding noise when starting 200

The day before yesterday my car started making a terrible grinding noise when I try to start it. It does not happen every time (I'd say about one in three or four times). My gut tells me to just replace the starter (it does have about 250k on it), but I'd like to know of anything else I should look into before I do that.
