I have some what is a bit of an intermitted problem with my 86 760T and it's performance. Help!! It is staring to loose power at 3000 RPM and above. Last night when trying to get up long hill I could barely keep the car going 80 km.
So what happens is this. Above about 3000 rpm… it starts a bit of a miss no pinging or anthing to bad - just a bit of a shutter. Boost is good and strong… but just tops out on power. It started as an intermittent problem but now is occurring about 80% of time. When it occurs I notice that when it’s back down at idle, the idle is not a smooth as it should be.
I have gone through the ignition system as much as I could. Scoped it. I have no cat so that can’t be clogged... Check all the turbo plumbing for leaks and collapsed hose. Air cleaner good... fuel pressure modulator looked ok – no ruptured bellows.
An just to make thing really bad… I finally gave up and called the shop. The great mechanic that I will only use – top notch guy on these things – is gone on vacation for 3 weeks starting today!!!
The only think that I think could be happened is the air mass unit is starting to fail.
What are your thoughts???
With Thanks
Steve
