While removing the crank seal carrier, I took out a big chunk of the oil pan gasket. Is this something to worry about? 200 1980

This is starting to get more then a bit frusterating.

While attempting to remove the seal carrier to replace the crank seal, I ended up tearing out a section of the oil pan gasket. Pictured here along with the carrier:



Here's what it looks like on the engine:



Needless to say, I sure as hell do not want to have to drop the oil pan to replace the gasket. Someone please tell me there is something else that can be done.

The biggest concern for me is leaks, and I'm worried that this is going to leak unless I replace the gasket.

And advice would be greatly appreciated.
