HELP! 82 240DL WILL NOT START! 200

Hi there.

I have a 82 240 that keeps shutting off without warning. The first time it happend I was able to get it running by replacing the hot lead going to the battery but that only lasted about 8 minutes before shutting off again. I managed to get the car home and replaced the coil and the fuel pump relay, again it started and only ran for about 5-6 minutes before shutting off. It is not the altenator but I think it might be a fuel pump, the thing that confuses me is that it turns off suddenly and does not sputter or act like it is running out of gas. and sometimes I can hear the fuel pumps turning on. Any advice would be appreciated before I spend a lot of unecesary money!
