2 240's down in one day!!?? Help! (also weird bulb holder) 200

1) This morning my '88 245 wouldn't start. I pulled it in off the street around midnight last nite and noticed it ran poor, but it only ran for 30 seconds - what the heck. I'm in NE Ohio and the temp is dipping to the low 30's at nite.
This morning it wouldn't start. Fuel pump fuse #6 is OK, and white fuel pump relay is OK (I keep good spares in the glove compartment). Went to work with 240 #2. Got home, tried to start with AMM pulled (limp home mode). Still no luck. Getting spark (a little, battery is low now, am recharging battery now). How can I tell if fuel pump is bad?
2) On the way home with #2 - '86 244, the brake failure light comes on a mile from home. Brake pedal feels funny but not totally out. I use the hand brake mostly, get in OK. Checked fluid level, it is totally up. I replaced the master cylinder a few weeks ago, "bench bled" it (thanks guys, worked great!!! 2 spare hoses back into reservoir). Brakes have been fine since. Now I go out into the driveway 1/2 hr. after home, I try pumping to see if the pedal sinks, and now the brake failure light goes out! What gives? Any ideas? BTW, also on this car I got a new (used) taillight, and the pass. side taillight bulb holder and circuit is different, the wrong bulb holder? was in it, & it's different from the previous taillight. It doesn't stay in & on right, it seems to need a different bulb holder. I didn't think the tailligts varied by year. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks!!!!
