Hi Folks,
Yesterday the "Limousine" gave me a bit of a scare after an
uneventful, but spiritd (=fun) drive to the movies though our bumpy,
curvy and hilly back roads. After the venue when I tried to start the
car it simply would not start. The problem lasted for several minutes
and as I noticed there was no fuel pump relay noise I removed the ash
tray insert access to the fuses and wacked the relays with my hand,
and it restarted. Whew! Don't you hate to be stranded?
Since I already repaired the fuel pump relay not long ago, I was
wondering if the problem wasn't related to relay or fuse block
connectors, and if anyone here ever overhauled the connections there,
and if so, what kind of a job does it represent?
I am convinced it is a false electrical contact in there somwhere
because after I had "wacked" it, not only did the car start normally,
but the one dash gauge illumination light that didn't work until then
suddenly came back to life :¬)
So if anyone of you ever came up with a similar situation, I'd love to
hear about what your comments. As you know, there is very little info
on that model car, even here.
Would it be a good idea to overhaul all electrical connections under
there (solder all that is presently crimped) and what does it imply in
terms of work? I am not afraid of electrical work and am very
comfortable soldering all the crimped connections, thing is, can I
remove the trim parts to access that wiring and still be able to drive
the car should I need to?
Thanks in advance for your generous input!
