Hello- I have a quick question about build dates on 240s, with a particular focus on the '92 model year. I test-drove a '92 240 sedan (5-speed) over the summer and the first thing I did before driving was to check the build date sticker on the door (don't ask me why I have this peculiar habit). It said 6/92, and the owner who was selling it told me it was indeed a 1992 model. So I'm assuming all Volvos built in 6/92 for U.S. consumption are classified as '92s eh? And in running the VIN through Carfax, it told me the 240 was such.
I'm just asking because my best friend owns a '97 850 GLT sedan, but the build date on that car is 6/96. I ran the VIN through Carfax and it told me it was a '97 model indeed. Peculiar indeed.
