I have recently purchased a 1990 Volvo 740 GLE. Everything seems to work fine except for the brakes. From what I can tell the car has sat for a period of time, probably a year or more. The car does not seem to have much stopping power at all, definately not drivable stopping power, and the pedal seems to have excessive travel, almost to the floor. Also the ABS light is on on the the dash. I have bleed the brakes and did not recieve any air out of the system. Also pumping them does not help. Fluid is full. I can tell that the rear pads do need replacement. I was wondering if anyone knew what might cause this problem or what a fix might be. Or if new pads/rotors are the answer. Could have the rust from sitting caused this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
