Recently, I have noticed a small amount of power steering fluid under my 83 245. At first, I thought it was just leaking from the reservoir or a hose, but then I realized that it was coming out of the driver's side rack boot. The fluid had eaten through the rubber in the boot and there was a nice hole in it. I was a little frustrated because I had just replaced both of those boots only 13 months ago.
So...yeah, the fluid leaks out... My question is, is it possible to replace seals on the rack? or do I have to replace the whole rack? The leak is very slow. It only drips a few drops after the car has been sitting still for a week. I am sure it is losing more during driving, though.
Any input would be nice. Man, I sure would hate to have to replace that whole rack. But if I must....
Thanks to all.
