Hello All,
I just completed the replacement of my in-tank supplementary fuel pump on my 80’ 240 and it’s amazing how much better it runs.
It had replaced the main or primary fuel pump about 4 years ago.
It appears that we have been driving with a faulty in-tank pump for all that time and then some...
The primary fuel pump does not run-on as much now but when it does come on it is still very noisy.
It is easily heard quite loudly from inside the car with the windows up.
How loud is the primary pump supposed to be?
Did I shorten its life by driving to long without an in-tank pump?
Will get louder and louder as it gets closer to death or will it just decide to go out one day while I'm on the freeway in rush hour traffic of course..?
Thanks,
Dale
